In every business, there is always pros and cons. If the pros outweighs the cons, then it’s all good. This is just the same with companies in the wholesale clothing and wholesale apparel industry. For the pros, these wholesalers can get their merchandise at a dirt cheap price because they rely on importers and liquidators who sells in pallets and truck loads of closeout items from different sources. These items are normally brand new and some even came from big department stores. If they get it at a dirt cheap price, naturally, they want to sell it at an extremely low price up to 80% cheaper than standard wholesale prices. The savings then pass on to the retailers so they can get better profit margin then in turn move the inventory pretty fast. Cons. On a slow economy like this, resellers are stuck with the inventory they bought months and months ago because there are not very many buyers who are willing to spend any money even for an extremely cheap price. There are more than 1.69 million Americans unemployed currently. This number is awful and means that more Americans are slowly being put on state aid and draining society of invaluable resources which could otherwise be spent on education or health provision. This strikes at the core of the budget for the states, which are spread very thin as it is across all the required public departments.

As the economy continues to be very shaky and with numerous major corporations going under due to mismanagement in recent years; there has seen a spike in the number of companies who are crashing on the stock market, meaning jobs have been lost and wages slashed. Couple this with the fact that the inflation rate is rising, the minimum wage is the same, and you are looking at a very bleak outcome for the financial future of America and its people. Something has to be changed now in order to reinvigorate our economy and our people.

Many people are able to enjoy comfortable lifestyles while many others are left with jobs that pay minimum wage, or barely over. Many Americans are busy working 40 hours plus a week and barely struggling to make enough to cover the bare essential bills. It is a tragedy the way the economy is functioning; with a great number of people getting richer, those who are financially struggling are continuing to struggle in a perpetual cycle of debt and poverty

The interest rates have hit all time lows, which has resulted in an enormous number of people purchasing their first homes. This has increased the number of people moving from rentals to the homeownership world. However, this has a price, owning a home is never cheap; the expenses must be paid somehow, and this is taking its toll on the already tightened purse strings of most Americans. Peoria county

The biggest problems with the economy are the lack of jobs over all. There are several major companies all across the country who are being courted by cities all around for new plants and factories to be built in their area so that an abundance of jobs would be available. These plants are few and far between, leaving the rest of the citizens without a job, and trying to desperately to grapple at the few minimum wage jobs available that offer 10-20 hours a week. If more was done to encourage big business to provide work domestically, this would at least work some way towards improving the lives of many Americans.

How to overcome these problems is something that many politicians are faced with the task of on an almost daily basis. The residents of their areas are forced to seek guidance and attempt to make changes for the better in order to improve the quality of life for everyone. People are always seeking ways to improve and better the economy, yet one of the biggest economic flaws is the national minimum wage staying the same for so many years, while the inflation rate has steadily risen.

The issues of new jobs, better benefits, higher pay, and more hours are always brought up in almost every state at political executive meets. Some states are in a very fortunate position where they are not forced to worry about the unemployment rates, they have managed to find a recipe for success and have lowered the unemployment rates to cater for the needs of their populous. If the nation as a whole can lower the rates, we will be moving towards some much-needed economic improvement, and the knock-on social benefits this brings through reduced crime and improving quality of life for the citizens of America all round.

Stretches For Sciatica – The Best Alternative?

Stretches for sciatica or sciatic neuritis are often suggested either as the only treatment or as a complementary therapy. Sciatic neuritis is merely a term used by doctors to refer to pain that occurs in the lower back, hips or upper legs due to compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve.

The sciatic nerve is very large. It begins in the lower back, runs through the buttocks and continues down through the legs. It is the size and length of the nerve that sometimes makes locating the site of the compression difficult. While the pain may occur in your legs or hips, the cause of the pressure on the nerve is, nearly always, somewhere in the back.

Your doctor may prescribe pain relievers, refer you to a chiropractor, suggest additional testing or recommend stretches for sciatica, which are quite effective for many people and may be all that you need to do. Non-surgical spinal decompression is another treatment that is typically expensive, although there is little evidence to support the treatment’s effectiveness.

Surgical procedures that are approved for sciatic pain include IDET (intradiscal electrothermoplasty) and RFDN (radio-frequency discal nucleoplasty). Generally speaking, surgery is only recommended when the cause of the syndrome is a herniated (torn) disc.

Herniated discs are accompanied by inflammation (swelling) in the surrounding tissues, which places pressure on the sciatic nerve, causing pain in the lower back, hips and legs. Typically, a hernia of this type is caused by injury or improper lifting. In most cases, the tear in the disc heals on its own, the inflammation goes away and the pain goes away too, although it may take weeks or months for the injury to heal.

If the disc does not heal on its own and the pain continues, regardless of physical therapy or regular stretches for sciatica pain, X-rays or MRIs will be done to locate the torn disc. Once the disc or discs are located, an IDET or RFDN can be scheduled. Physical therapy, chiropractic care and stretches for sciatica are better choices, because of the risks of surgery and the low success rate.

An IDET involves inserting a needle into the affected disc. The needle is guided by X-ray and a wire is guided through it. The wire is then heated to destroy the nerve fibers, which reduces the feelings of pain, but can also cause areas of numbness.

RFDN is somewhat similar, but instead of a heated wire, a probe is inserted to create a high-frequency, high-energy plasma field. The risks of surrounding tissue damage are fewer, because the temperature is lower. But, no surgical procedure is without risk. Any kind of back surgery is particularly risky, as it can result in partial or total paralysis.

ART Therapy – Active Release Techniques For Strength Athletes

At some point or another just about every bodybuilder and athlete on the planet is bound injure himself. Luckily, for most of us they’re usually minor and don’t result in anything more than a slight inconvenience for a few days. Sometimes though-especially if you’re a powerlifter, strongman or competitive athlete-they can stretch on for weeks or months and even bring your training to halt. Some strength athletes though, have found lasting relief for formerly debilitating injuries through a technique known as Active Release Techniques (ART).

ART is a soft-tissue chiropractic technique that specifically targets the injured area. Feedback on ART has so far been very positive. Because of the way it’s administered some people might say that ART therapy is a “massage,” but make no mistake-it’s not. ART therapy is a movement-based technique that is actually patented. It was developed in the early- to mid-nineties by a Colorado Chiropractor P. Michael Leahy, DC, CCSP. He developed the technique after observing that his patients’ symptoms were apparently related to changes in the soft tissue that he could actually feel with his hand.

Based on that observation he began tracking how the soft tissues (muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves) responded to different types of treatments (soft tissue work). From there he developed the ART program-which is made up of more than 500 different specific moves to treat problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves, back pain, shoulder pain, sciatica, knee problems, tennis elbow and more. Nearly all of these are pains that can be common among strength athletes like strongmen, powerlifters and other competitive athletes.

A lot of these problems are caused by soft tissue injuries that usually occur in one of two ways: acute conditions (pulls, tears, strains, etc.); or accumulation of small tears caused by doing the same movement over and over (micro-trauma). When these things happen, they can cause the body to produce dense scar tissue in the areas affected. The scar tissue builds up and as it does, the impact it has becomes more widespread. As a result, we suffer from a reduced range of motion, a loss of strength and of course, pain.

When these kinds of injuries occur in a strength athlete-especially one who is competing-it can be devastating because our tendency is to “work through the pain.” But what happens then is we overcompensate because of the pain and wind up not only exacerbating the original injury but often times, we end up with more than we had in the beginning.

So in these kinds of circumstances, ART therapy can be ideal for the strength athlete. It starts with a comprehensive evaluation by a certified therapist. The evaluation takes about an hour. Its purpose is to pinpoint the injury, determine its severity and then establish the proper therapeutic regimen. ART therapy works by treating the abnormal tissues (scar tissue) by combining precisely-directed tension combined with very specific movements from the patient. The big benefit here is that the treatments can generally alleviate the problem after just a few visits. That means no lengthy down times.

I’ve read about all kinds of strength athletes-powerlifters and strongmen included, that have had tremendous success alleviating persistent, chronic pains with ART therapy. And in the majority of cases that I’ve seen, the treatment time has been relatively short-from two to six weeks. After that, they’ve jumped right back into competition-pain free.

There have been several scientific studies conducted to determine how effective ART therapy actually is in treating injuries relating to the overuse of muscles. Nearly all of the studies show that ART therapy can be very effective in treating these types of injuries. One study conducted at the University of California (San Diego) showed a 71% success rate. Other studies obtained similar results with rates of success ranging from 70% to more than 90%. In these studies, most participants said that the problem was eliminated after 3 to 7 sessions.

Now obviously, a therapy like this is not going to be 100% successful for every person who tries it. Some injuries are more severe than others, are related to other problems or issues, or for some other reason it just doesn’t work. But, with research showing that in more than 70% of the cases studied, ART therapy effectively eliminated the problem and enabled these athletes to get back to training, I’d say that this is one technique that is definitely worth investigating if you’ve got an injury that is holding you back.

Thoracic Spinal Stenosis Symptoms and Treatments

Thoracic spinal stenosis is a condition in which the spinal cord or spinal nerves are compressed by narrowing of the spinal canal or the openings between vertebrae. The thoracic spine has some unique characteristics that make thoracic spinal stenosis a little different than stenosis in other areas. Thoracic spinal stenosis rarely occurs in isolation, but is almost always accompanied by stenosis in the lumbar area, and sometimes also the cervical spine.

There are 12 thoracic vertebra and they articulate with the 12 sets of ribs that protect our major organs. The thoracic spine curves outward, and the curve is gentler than the cervical or lumbar curves. Because of the ribs, the thoracic spine is more fixed than the cervical or lumbar areas, too. Most of the motion of the thoracic spine is rotation, with little flexion or extension.

The spinal canal is naturally narrower in the thoracic area, even though the size of the spinal cord remains the same. That means there is less extra space, so it takes less obstruction to cause problems.

Symptoms

Like cervical and lumbar spinal stenosis, thoracic spinal stenosis can be congenital or acquired. There is a great deal of difference, however, in how it is manifested.

Most thoracic spinal stenosis is due to degenerative changes—arthritis in the joints, bone spurs, disc degeneration and other changes due to aging. As the degeneration progresses, you may experience pain in your back and legs, either aching in your legs when you walk that gets better when you rest, or back pain that radiates down into the legs. You may develop problems with walking or loss of bowel or bladder function.

Because the thoracic spinal canal is already naturally narrow, people with congenital spinal stenosis cannot tolerate any extra pressure on the spinal cord. They tend to develop symptoms of cord compression (loss of sensation or movement below the injury) rapidly after minor injury.

Treatment

Degenerative thoracic spinal stenosis may get better with conservative treatment, which includes anti-inflammatory medications, pain management and physical therapy. Steroid injections or nerve blocks may help manage the pain.

If the pain is uncontrolled or if there are signs of cord compression, however, surgery is necessary to relieve pressure on the cord or spinal nerves. Traditional surgical options are laminectomy or corpectomy to provide more room in the spinal canal and spinal fusion to stabilize the spine and prevent damage to the cord.

Minimally invasive surgery may be an option for some cases of thoracic stenosis. Surgery is done through an endoscope using a microscope to directly visualize the spine. Microsurgical techniques allow the surgeon to perform precise, delicate maneuvers to remove the nerve pressure and repair structures.

OK, Im about to "break protocol" here, and blow the "complex science" of model railroading into the fun, simple, easy to understand way in which it really is!

Lets look at what a little fish gravel and a pile of old curbside ceiling tile…( Which later would become scenery)… some plaster, coupled with a little imagination will do. …* Heres a clip of Tom and Scotts layout… These are "O" Scale "MTH" brand trains, (there is some Lionel as well) … Anyway, it took 40+ years to amass all this "stuff", for this 30 x 45 layout… Tom loves to lash up 4 or 5 engines and will pull trains way in excess of 100 scale cars long (thats 17+ inches of coupler slack, and trains in excess of 170-200 feet long!)

*Note he made the walls round (no corners) to conform to its outer 0192 degree radius. In this video, at the beginning, Youll see Tom when he was just 6, getting his 1st Train set, Then later youll see how far he took it ( As it took 53 4×8 sheets of plywood to construct this layout!) … and the time to build ?: 8 months… (just him).

NOT years like most others say! You know…
("Ah God,ah god")… in a "babbling rant"…….

*We built this so ANY Train can go up or down any level and run on another track, or skididdle into the yard,… again, from ANY track… there are 9 trains running at once most of the time. Not seen are many tunnels and places where more trains go. Smoke from the Trains comes from a liquid, which is inserted into each engine by means of a small funnel.

*No annoying "TCA" or "Club" had anything to do with this, We model no particular railroad either… So if CSX and the NS, (or whatever) are "at war"… and this isnt "prototypical" , We dont care!. IF its big and can pull… "we get it"!!

*We model "FUN"!

Please dont miss understand me, "clubs" have a place in our hobby… But more often then not , members turn "anal" and bitter when they tryin coexist… "WHY"?? The question then begs… "why cant it be we just all enjoy Trains" ? These putzs ruin things more often then not, and we steer clear of them.
